Hiko Saemon – my apologies for getting you involved

Share

Today this was posted on Debito.org:

and compares it to his connection afterwards with a full-of-praise Tepido “Hikosaemon”

I know Hiko through Google+ and a few other online places, but the only place our Tepidean paths have crossed is when he checked out Mr Arudou’s and my schlongs. So, I decided to drop Hiko a line on Google+, and he said:

On Debito vs Tepido, and other similar forums, I look at it mostly as the same kind of lonely testosterone alpha male vs alpha male trolling that characterizes the expat community in Japan

He also says he has never posted to Tepido.org, which should be obvious from the above comment, but even more revealing, he didn’t even know it is my site!

Furthermore, thanks to Mr Arudou’s post, Hiko tells me he has been getting phone texts asking if he runs Tepido.org, and flames on his blog and Twitter, even as far as death threats, apparently! He also had this exchange with Mr Arudou over Twitter:

hikosaemon

At least that solves the mystery of "The Tepido Twelve".

Mr Arudou, I think you had better apologise to him too.

  1. Wow. Really. Just wow. Death threats. I hope Arudou co-operates with Hikosaemon in finding out who these people are. And apologises.

  2. Excellent deductive reasoning by Debito there. People sure they want this guy having a say in making laws?

  3. Hello, so makin my first comment here on Tepido…. Now THAT’S ironic… :)

Okay, just to be clear, I was messages and phone texted by friends, including my good mate tkyosam who is friends with Debito and interviewed him a couple of times, who all believed based on his last blog that I was in fact the evil mastermind behind this site.

Nothing for or against you guys or your opinions, I just generally try to steer clear of drama so getting in the sights of me gaijin drama himself made me a little jumpy. Realizing the deduction was made by his finding I follow Tepido orgs twitter, and that I am to him one of the somewhat awesomely named “Notorious 12″ the timing explains a glut of unpleasant tweets and anonymous blog messages (on my photoblog of iPhone shots of Tokyo, leading my to believe it was at first a deranged Canon DSLR owner) I got that would not be so much death threats as general death wishes. Very YouTube 12 year old stuff. No big deal, but the blog and tweets of debito explain this situation toe somewhat.

Anyway apologies for my candor on google plus. I’ve said all this in my blog a year ago, I just find gaijin scaling measuring contests boring because I always win, so I do my best just to sit them out.

No drama to see here, but I appreciate your clarification.

    Cheers

    Hiko

  4. Sorry for the drunken spelling and grammar. iPhone. Night all

  5. Yeah, an apology would certainly seem to be in order. And since Dave is hardly an anonymous person if real death threats (as opposed to I hope you die in a fire sort of well wishes) are involved I certainly hope you contact the police Hiko.

Debito seems to have jumped the gun a bit here, which he tends to do from time to time, but such is life.

Ken, I noticed that Panasonic are laying off a heap of head office workers. Now might not be a bad time to go under the radar as far as online activities go.

  7. Laxman, that is so stupid.

Panasonic Boss 1: Hey we’ve got this experienced, English-speaking employee that posts on the Internet. I know we’re trying to focus on global expansion and all that, but you know, the Internet. What do you think, should we let him go?

Panasonic Boss 2: Why the fuck would I care? Stop wasting my time. In fact, why don’t you let yourself go for wasting my time.

Panasonic is mired in problems. They’re not just going to start pink slipping people regardless of their importance to the company. :headdesk:

The fact that you keep bringing this is up is extremely creepy.

  8. Lax is just very, very, very concerned for Ken’s well-being. I find it kind of touching, actually. I imagine him listening to Enrique Iglesias’ “Hero” as he types his warnings about the Panasonic bosses laying people off for posting on the internet in their spare time.

  9.

Another innocent bystander forever branded and cast to the annals of infamy [infamy, they've all got it infamy], alongside such arch villains as the “international spam merchant” (or the guy who posted from a dynamic IP on a roaming wireless network… from outside of Japan! ).

In the interests of fairness and balance, though, debito.org appears to be spearing some its [destined to be erstwhile] supporters with similar zeal.

And for the record, I don’t really care how long the schlong.

  10. Laxman Sivaramakrishnan

    @George:

I hope you are right, but it is naive to think that things work that way.

  11. @Laxman Sivaramakrishnan:

Way I see it, the only way he could get in trouble is if he’s using the internet on work time, and that’ll likely get him a talking-to as opposed to outright firing. George’s account might be a bit naive, but yours is just weird paranoia.

  12. Huh. Now, when Grima went and tattled on Nogbad Debito said:

“– Thanks. Sorry, I will not visit the Stalker Site under any circumstances. Thanks for letting me know.”

Yet he will visit the Tepido twitter feed to find out who has subscribed since the subscribers have got to be the folks who run this site…

And he also says in the article above that folks on Tepido like Loco because Loco is black…

Which would mean Debito IS reading Tepido. So he’s a liar.

OR – Debito was telling the truth when he says he never reads Tepido, and is instead relying entirely on what his “friends” tell him folks are saying on Tepido, without verifying if what he is being told is true or not. Which would mean he’s a gullible idiot.

So, David Aldwinckle, for everything behind curtain number three here is your question: are you a liar or a gullible idiot?

  13. GuruGuruDokkan

    @Jes’ Sayin’:

If I could take a stab at this one for bonus points…

    Both?

(What is behind curtain three? US citizenship?)

  14. @Jes’ Sayin’:

And he also says in the article above that folks on Tepido like Loco because Loco is black…

Which would mean Debito IS reading Tepido. So he’s a liar.

Actually, I think this is how the logic works:

Hikosaemon gave a positive review of Loco’s book on Amazon.

Hikosaemon did a youtube interview of Loco.

    Therefore Hikosaemon likes Loco.

Hikosaemon follow tepido.org on Twitter, therefore Hikosaemon is “a Tepido”[sic].

    ergo: “Tepidos” ♥ Loco.

Not sure where the “cos he’s black” bit comes from. Extrapolation, I guess…

  15. @iago: Debito’s “logic” re. Tepido and Loco does not involve Hikosaemon. Debito links to a comment Ken Y-N left on Loco’s blog, so there is the connection. I now realize that means that Debito could draw his conclusions without visiting The Stalker Site ™.

  16. @Jes’ Sayin’:

Ah, so he does. I should have clicked a bit more before jumping to my own conclusions.

  17. @iago:
Not sure where the “cos he’s black” bit comes from. Extrapolation, I guess…

Well, we couldn’t have given Loco a friendly reception just because we’re a group of adults interested in discussing issues related to living in Japan and are capable of amicably debating points we disagree about.

I mean, that much is obvious. So what other explanation could there be?

  18. @sublight:

Sound like in the previously mentioned schlong measuring war, the winner has been genetically predetermined, so there’s really no point in trying to compete…

  19. This is a legitimate site for discussion of Mr. Arudou’s views, not a stalker site. Debito either cannot or will not debate people with differing views, which is why he describes criticism as stalking.
